Dubai is one of today’s must-visit destinations in the world. It’s a delicate balance of new and old means that there’s so much you could see and do when vacating here. Mixing modern culture with history, the city offers an out-of-this-world shopping, entertainment, and adventure experience that will leave you mesmerized. If you are planning to visit Dubai for business or pleasure, here are some of the top things to consider doing during your stay there.
Visit The Dubai Mall
In downtown Dubai, just a stone’s throw away from the Burj Khalifa is the massive Dubai Mall. Housing 1,200 stores, the mall is, without a doubt, the world’s largest shopping center. Even if you are not looking to buy anything, a visit to the mall is a must.
There is so much to see, do, and experience in this expansive retail center that is home to numerous entertainment facilities which include a movie theater, an ice rink, an aquarium housing over 33,000 marine animals and many exciting attractions.
Right outside the mall is the world-renowned Dubai Fountain known for its spectacular waterworks display- especially at night.
Bask In The Sun At The Jumeirah Beach
A walking distance from the Burj Al Arab is Jumeirah Beach, one of Dubai’s best strips of public beach. Jumeirah Beach is a great place for tourists to swim, sunbathe, or participate in various water sports in the Persian Gulf’s turquoise waters.
The beach is equipped with plenty of picnic and barbecue areas, not forgetting several playgrounds and is open to the public from 7 am to 11:30 pm. Admission to the beach costs about $1.25 per person.
Explore Dubai From The Burj Khalifa
You cannot be in Dubai and fail to visit The Burj Khalifa. The world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa is 2,716 feet tall (that is an impressive 160 stories) and should be on your list of things to do and explore when in Dubai. Burj Khalifa is also the world’s tallest freestanding structure and is home to the highest standing outdoor observation deck.
Situated on the 148th floor, the observation deck offers visitors the chance to enjoy some of the most mesmerizingly-beautiful views of Dubai (well, that’s if you are not scared of heights). The deck is open 9:30 am-10:30 pm daily and admission is about $95 per head. However, you could still enjoy spectacular views from the 124th floor for only $34 (adults) and $26 (children aged between 4 and 12 years).
Trek Through Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve
If by any chance, you grow tired of the glitz and glam of modern Dubai, then it’s time to consider exploring the UAE’s heritage. Tourists who’ve been here strongly recommend visiting Dubai’s Desert Conservation Reserve. This reserve is the nation’s first national park and sits on the edges of Dubai. The conservation, which takes up about 87-square-miles of the Arabian Desert, serves as a research unit.
The good thing though is that visitors are allowed to explore the reserve as long as they have a guide. Interestingly, there are many activities that travelers can indulge in here like camel treks, falconry training, dune driving in luxury SUV’s, sand boarding, and dabble in archery amongst other things. Prices for activities and tours will vary depending on the amount of time spent here and the excursion package provider.
Other exciting things to do in Dubai include visiting Dubai’s Green Planet Indoor Rainforest, Skiing at the UAE’s largest indoor ski resort, or having a fun and wet day at the Aquaventure Waterpark located at the Atlantis The Palm.
Honestly, speaking though, these are just some of the many things you could do when visiting Dubai.
